Poland Voices Concern Over Gaza Crisis, UN Troops in Lebanon
As stated by reports, Deputy Foreign Minister Wojciech Zajaczkowski met with Israeli Ambassador to Poland Yaakov Finkelstein to review developments across the Middle East and address bilateral relations. The ministry said in a post on X that “the discussion focused on the situation in the Middle East, particularly in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, as well as Polish-Israeli relations.”
Polish officials highlighted worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza, expressing concern over the impact on civilians. “The Polish side expressed concern over the humanitarian situation of the Palestinian population,” the ministry added.
Warsaw also raised issues related to its military personnel deployed in southern Lebanon as part of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, citing declining conditions affecting the Polish contingent operating there. It further stressed the importance of respecting sovereignty in international relations.
The discussions took place shortly after reports that a US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon had been extended by three weeks following talks held at the White House. According to reports, the truce, which initially began on April 16 and was set to expire on Sunday, has now been prolonged following ambassador-level consultations.
