Hezbollah Claims Drone Strikes on Israeli Targets in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) Hezbollah announced on Friday that it had conducted drone operations targeting Israeli positions in southern Lebanon, describing the actions as a response to what it called violations of the ceasefire agreement.

In a statement, the group said it launched drones against Israeli troops stationed in the town of Qantara in the Marjayoun District, claiming the operation achieved a “direct hit.” It added that the strikes were carried out in retaliation for Israeli attacks on civilians, including an air raid earlier the same day on Touline, where two people were reported killed.

Separately, the group stated that it had downed an Israeli surveillance drone over the Housh area near Tyre using a surface-to-air missile. The drone was identified as a Hermes 450 model.

According to reports, heavy exchanges of fire also took place between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces in the town of Bint Jbeil, with intense confrontations described in the area.

The Israeli military claimed it had killed six Hezbollah members during the clashes and said there were no casualties on its side. Hezbollah did not address that claim, though it has periodically stated that it has engaged Israeli troops advancing in southern Lebanon.

Bint Jbeil, located roughly three kilometers from the border, serves as the administrative center of its district in Nabatieh and is home to an estimated population of about 30,000 residents.
